It Burns It All Clean

It Burns It All Clean is a project about Job Centres, Unemployment and the Benefit System, and is the first manifestation of an ongoing project which seeks to explore and discover exactly what it is about this unique – and oft maligned – space that makes them feel so alienating, when people so often come to them at a point in their lives when they are most vulnerable.

In this work, the space is presented as a game – at once a backstage look into the machinations of ‘the job market’ a reinvented, rebuilt ‘job centre for people who are better’, but also a surreal plunge into just how it can feel to be an individual moving through that system. There is a very real possibility that you will come away with a week’s worth of benefits. So play hard.
