Pat It and Prick It and Mark It with ‘B’

Selina’s mother once told her that eating, for her, was like a prison. That didn’t seem quite right, so Selina is going to make a dress. With your help, and her best mate Jess, she is going to make the dress out of cake. It will be big, and glorious, and just a bit too sweet.

Pat It and Prick It and Mark It with a B is a durational performance, originally conceived for Spill Festival of Performance, performed at the National Theatre Studio and developed in collaboration with Bobby Baker.

A special revival of the piece took place in November 2014 as part of Compass Live Art Festival in Leeds Corn Exchange.

‘The dress made out of cake is fragile, the foundations shaky, yet the woman behind it, strong.’
– Lorraine Wood

‘a brilliant, thoughtful, intelligent piece about the pleasures and pains of consuming. And besides it is dress made of cake.  How can you not love it?’
Alex Chisholm, Exeunt
